Peace Government Foreign Ministry Thanks States and Organisations for Condemning Darfur Market Massacres

In a statement dated 24 October 2026, Foreign Minister Ammar Amoun Deldoum said international condemnation had put pressure on the Port Sudan authority, and affirmed his ministry is working with friendly states toward peace and a free, democratic, federal homeland.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Peace Government has expressed its profound thanks and appreciation for condemnations issued by states, international and regional organisations, national institutions, political institutions and parties, and civil society and community organisations, the ministry said in a press statement. The condemnations concerned what the ministry called genocide in populated areas, markets and service facilities, it said — in particular a massacre in North Wadi which the ministry attributed to the Egyptian army and said left hundreds dead, wounded and missing, as well as massacres it attributed to the Islamic Movement army in Nyala’s livestock market, the general market, and the markets of Abu Zabad and Al-Odaya, and in citizens’ homes in Al Daein. The ministry said the condemnations had put terrible pressure on what it called the illegitimate Port Sudan authority and its army, which it said is run by the Islamic Movement, and that the authority had resorted to denial, which the ministry said proves its commission of those massacres. The world’s solidarity with war victims confirms that the world’s conscience rejects the killing of innocent civilians, their displacement and the destruction of their property, the statement said. The ministry affirmed it is working with brotherly and friendly states and all peace-loving states to achieve peace in Sudan and build a free, democratic, federal homeland in which the people are equal in rights and duties, and said it is oriented toward building international relations based on the supreme interests of the Sudanese peoples and fruitful cooperation with the peoples of the world. The statement was signed by Foreign Minister Ammar Amoun Deldoum.
